Fashion

Our main fashion labels are eskandar, Yacco Maricard, Joyce Ridings, Elemente Clemente, Flax and Backstage. We have recently added 120% lino to this stable.

The women’s clothes from these labels are very special – chosen with a particular type of independent woman in mind. Individual, sophisticated, relaxed and understated are words that apply as much to our customers as to our clothes. With so many of our customers being international travellers or living in different hemispheres, our ranges cater specifically for this trans-seasonal requirement.

When you’re comfortable, you can look your best. So the loose, easy shapes of our collections, often styled with an oriental sensibility and made in mainly natural fabrics, allow women who may not be as slim or as young as they once were to be comfortable while looking elegant and sophisticated. Coordinating separates in and across the ranges allow each person to create her own look. Our expanded and spacious clothing department, opened in 2008, offers customers a luxurious and very personal shopping experience with plenty of space to view the collections and a comfortable seating area for husbands or friends.

Our Philosophy
It is probably wishful thinking to hope that the movement for seasonality in food could spill over into the clothing sector. But that doesn’t stop me trying to buck the trend. When it’s hot, we sell clothes that are suitable for the weather – not winter coats. We don’t put out summer stock in January or February either when you want to rug up because this just doesn’t make sense.

We are also determined to buck the trend for more frequent and earlier Sales because we believe that this leads to unsustainable businesses. Our buying policy of providing trans-seasonal clothing and clothes that are beyond fashion means that we don’t have to be led by a panicky High Street.

If you see anything you would be interested in but cannot buy online because you are not resident in the UK, we would encourage you to contact us. I am more than happy to continue our practice of mail order, giving personal advice about any of our range and e-mailing photographs of any clothes in stock. But, if you can, visit our exciting, revitalised sixteenth-century timbered Herefordshire shop. It's worth the trip!
